The historic event took place at the palace of His Royal Highness, Eze Chukwunyere Ugochukwu Akajiofor I, the traditional ruler of Okigwe Town Autonomous Community. The palace, beautifully adorned with symbols of royalty and cultural heritage, played host to a distinguished gathering of personalities drawn from across Okigwe Zone and beyond.
The ceremony attracted an impressive array of dignitaries, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, political office holders, community leaders, captains of industry, and well-wishers. Their presence reflected the widespread respect and admiration Senator Ndubueze enjoys for his leadership, service, and contributions to the development of Okigwe Zone.
Among the prominent religious leaders present was Very Rev. Canon C. N. Eze of the Methodist Church, who attended on behalf of the Bishop. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude to God for the life and accomplishments of Senator Ndubueze, describing the chieftaincy honour as well-deserved. He prayed for continued divine guidance and success in the Senator’s efforts toward peace, development, and progress in Okigwe Zone. The cleric also offered prayers for the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, commending his developmental initiatives across the state.
Also in attendance was Rt. Hon. Chidiebere Samuel Ogbunikpa, Member representing Okigwe State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, who was equally honoured with a chieftaincy title, Ochuwara Ehi Zogbuo Agu, alongside other notable personalities whose presence added colour and prestige to the occasion.
While conferring the title, Eze Akajiofor I praised Senator Ndubueze for his humility, selfless service, commitment to grassroots development, and dedication to the unity and progress of the Okigwe people. He described the title Onuigwe I of Okigwe as a symbol of trust, honour, and recognition of exemplary leadership.
In his acceptance speech, Senator Ndubueze expressed profound gratitude to the traditional ruler for the honour, describing it as recognition of collective achievements rather than personal efforts. He acknowledged the pivotal role of the Governor of Imo State, noting that the successes recorded would not have been possible without the governor’s support, leadership, and provision of necessary resources.
The event was characterised by joy, harmony, and a strong sense of communal solidarity, as people from diverse backgrounds celebrated together. It stood as a testament to the enduring values of unity, respect, and collaboration that define the Okigwe people.
The conferment of the chieftaincy title on Senator Patrick Ndubueze is not only a personal milestone but also a reaffirmation of the strong relationship between visionary leadership and traditional institutions in advancing unity and sustainable development in Okigwe Zone.
In a related development, Senator Ndubueze later joined Hon. Chidi Samuel Ogbunikpa at the commissioning of constituency projects executed by the lawmaker.
