The Okigwe Zone Representative on the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB), Hon. Arc. Amaka Mgbobu-Onu, on Tuesday, 4Th of August, 2026 led an inter-ministerial committee from Abuja on an inspection tour of the Smart School in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area. The state-of-the-art institution is being constructed by the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Dr. Hope Uzodimma, CON, to provide quality education for boys and girls across the state, with modern boarding facilities.
Speaking during the inspection, Arc. Mgbobu-Onu described the Ngor Okpala Smart School as one of several smart schools being established by the Uzodimma administration to expand access to free, qualitative, and technology-driven education for Imo children.
The former frontline aspirant for the House of Representatives, Okigwe North Federal Constituency, explained that the school is equipped with boarding facilities and will be staffed by some of the state's best teachers, many of whom have undergone specialized training in South Korea to enhance the delivery of modern education.
She further disclosed that, in a bid to create a conducive teaching and learning environment, Governor Uzodimma has also approved the construction of residential accommodation for teachers within the school premises.
According to her, the initiative is aimed at ensuring convenient access to classrooms while promoting effective teaching and improved learning outcomes.
While briefing the delegation from Abuja, Arc. Mgbobu-Onu welcomed the team led by Professor Garba, with members including Engr. Dahiru Aliyu and Arc. Felix Zachariah, both officials of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
The Smart School in Ngor Okpala is expected to commence its first academic session in September 2026, marking another milestone in the Imo State Government's commitment to transforming the education sector through world-class infrastructure and innovation
