APC-PYWF REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PARTNERING WITH APC WOMEN PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL ...pledges greater impact.

The National Secretary of the APC Progressive Young Women Forum (APC-PYWF), Hon. Arc. Amaka Mgbobu-Onu, has reaffirmed the forum’s commitment to partnering with the APC Women Presidential Campaign Council for greater impact ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mgbobu-Onu, who is a former frontline aspirant for the Okigwe/Onuimo/Isiala Mbano Federal Constituency, commended the inauguration of the APC Women Presidential Campaign Council by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

She described the development as a major step towards strengthening women’s participation in politics and ensuring greater recognition of their roles in national development.

According to her, the decision to bring various women support groups together under the Presidential Campaign Council would promote unity, coordination and greater impact.

She said the APC-PYWF would continue to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while advancing its programmes on women’s political empowerment, leadership development and capacity building.

Mgbobu-Onu also commended the impact of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) empowerment programme in Imo State, noting that beneficiaries across the 27 local government areas received support including sewing machines, deep freezers, cash grants, agricultural assistance and other livelihood-enhancing interventions.

She acknowledged the support of the Imo State Government and praised the Imo State First Lady, Dr. Chioma Uzodimma, for her mobilisation and engagement of women through various women-focused programmes.

The APC-PYWF National Secretary also commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for supporting skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, economic empowerment and women’s participation in governance.

Mgbobu-Onu stressed that women should not be regarded merely as political mobilisers during elections, but should be encouraged to become leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, professionals, candidates and decision-makers.

She urged women to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, understand the democratic process and participate responsibly in political activities.

She said the APC-PYWF, established in 2021, had developed structures across wards, local government areas and the state, with its activities focused on sustained political engagement, mentoring, leadership development and skills acquisition.

Mgbobu-Onu expressed appreciation to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the APC leadership, Governor Hope Uzodimma and Dr. Chioma Uzodimma for supporting women-focused initiatives, stressing that stronger collaboration among government, women’s organisations and other stakeholders would create greater opportunities for women in Imo State and Nigeria.

“We welcome the development of collapsing all women structures into the APC Women Presidential Campaign Council, as it will strengthen coordination, unity and our collective impact.”
