NDUBUEZE CONVENES APC OKIGWE ZONE LEADERS’ MEETING, REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR TINUBU, APC CANDIDATES.

The Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Patrick Chiwuba Ndubueze, FNSE, has convened a meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders from Okigwe Zone, reaffirming their commitment to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the victory of all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The meeting, held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Rockview Hotel, Owerri, was attended by elected political office holders, political appointees, party executives and other stakeholders from the zone.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Ndubueze commended the stakeholders for their continued support for Governor Hope Uzodimma, saying the cordial relationship had helped attract government attention and development to Imo North.

He particularly cited the Deed of Exchange for the proposed Federal University of Okigwe as one of the benefits of the cooperation between the zone and the state government, expressing optimism that the institution would commence soon.

Ndubueze also highlighted some of his legislative interventions, including efforts toward the completion and upgrading of the Okigwe Zone electricity substation project, which he said was being upgraded from 63MVA to 126MVA, with additional capacity installed. He disclosed that the expected handover date was February 2027.

The senator further said he was pursuing the completion of other development projects across the six local government areas of Imo North, while explaining that delays in some constituency projects were linked to outstanding payments to contractors.

Describing his first tenure as “eventful, fruitful and beneficial,” Ndubueze said Imo North had maintained a strong presence in legislative activities at the National Assembly, ranking 10th among the 109 senatorial districts in legislative participation, according to his assessment.

He also briefed the stakeholders on his ongoing legal dispute involving Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and the 2027 political contest, expressing confidence that he would prevail based on what he described as evidence before the court.

Ndubueze announced plans to embark on community engagements where he would present documented evidence of projects attracted to the zone and provide logistics for constituents to independently verify the claims.

He consequently pledged to intensify his campaign for the re-election of President Tinubu and the victory of all APC candidates from Okigwe Zone.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Mrs. Rubby Emele, commended Ndubueze for his legislative performance and urged APC candidates to work closely together for the party’s success.

Former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim, also praised the senator for attracting development projects to the zone, while APC leader in Okigwe Zone, Hon. Dan Ogu, said Ndubueze’s performance had provided the party with achievements to campaign with. He, however, appealed for stronger economic empowerment programmes to cushion the effects of economic hardship among constituents.

The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, prayed for the continued success of Senator Ndubueze in his representation of Imo North.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Ifeanyi Agwu, member representing Imo State on the Board of the South East Development Commission, moved a motion reaffirming the commitment of APC stakeholders in Okigwe Zone to the re-election of President Tinubu and the victory of all APC candidates.

The motion, seconded by former Speaker Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim, was unanimously adopted by the stakeholders present.
