OHANAEZE NDIGBO WORLDWIDE, IMO STATE CHAPTER, GIVES UNANIMOUS ENDORSEMENT, ASSURES FULL SUPPORT FOR IGBO HERITAGE AWARDS

The Imo State Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has formally announced its unanimous endorsement of the forthcoming Igbo Heritage Awards, pledging full institutional and community support toward the success of the event. The endorsement, according to the leadership of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, underscores the cultural, historical and developmental value of the awards to the entire Igbo nation.

Scheduled to take place in Owerri, Imo State, in January 2026, the second edition of the Igbo Heritage Awards aims to honour and immortalize distinguished Igbo sons and daughters whose contributions have shaped society across generations and disciplines.

The event will celebrate iconic patriots, men and women whose pioneering breakthroughs, trailblazing innovations, leadership excellence, entrepreneurial daring and profound humanism embody the timeless Igbo spirit of ingenuity and resilience.

Themed “History, Heritage and Renaissance in Igboland: Imperative for Socio-Cultural and Economic Transformation,” the 2025 edition positions the Igbo Heritage Awards as more than a ceremony of recognition. It is a visionary reward system intentionally crafted to inspire a cultural renaissance, strengthen intergenerational pride, and accelerate socio-economic transformation within Igbo communities worldwide.

Organisers describe the awards as an evolving cultural institution designed to reconnect Ndi Igbo with the values that have historically propelled their advancement: industry, integrity, innovation, communal responsibility and excellence. By celebrating exemplary individuals and documenting their legacies, the programme seeks to motivate young people, rekindle civic consciousness, and stimulate investments in culture, education, enterprise and leadership development.

The endorsement by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide (Imo Chapter) is expected to galvanize broader regional participation, ensuring that the 2025 edition becomes a unifying cultural festival that showcases the best of Igbo heritage to Nigeria and the global community.
