Women of Mbubu Amiri and neighbouring communities in Oru East LGA have benefited from the humanitarian gesture of United States–based philanthropist, Lady Ebere Udechukwu, who sponsored the free distribution of the All-Dry menstrual cup, distributed and marketed by Chief Akudee Calista Duru.
The outreach took place at the premises of Ebere-Ann Hospital and Maternity Centre, owned by late Lolo Mrs Janet Udechukwu of Mbubu Amiri. The event drew a large turnout as women trooped to the venue to receive the free reusable menstrual products.
During the sensitization session, Dr. Chuka Amukamara, Country Manager of All-Dry Menstrual Cup, educated participants on the proper use and benefits of the product. He explained the techniques for inserting and removing the cup during menstruation, emphasizing the need for careful handling. He stated that the menstrual cup has a lifespan of up to 10 years, making it a cost-effective alternative to disposable pads.
Dr. Amukamara further stressed that with proper sterilization and good hygiene practices, users can prevent contamination and infections, ensuring safe and healthy use. According to him, the All-Dry Menstrual Cup offers a long-term solution that eliminates dependence on sanitary pads, tissues, and cloth materials, which are often more expensive and may pose health risks.
Other health professionals on the team, including Nurse Winnie Ahanonu, also educated the women on hygiene and proper application of the product. Nurse Amarachi Prisca complemented the session with a practical demonstration on how to use the menstrual cup effectively.
Representing Lady Ebere Udechukwu, Engr. Onyebuchi Udechukwu, Manager of Ebere-Ann Hospital and Maternity Centre, expressed appreciation to Chief Akudee Calista Duru and the All-Dry Menstrual Team for bringing the initiative to the community. He noted that the gesture aligns with Lady Udechukwu’s commitment to improving women’s health and welfare in Mbubu Amiri.
The interactive session allowed women to ask questions and gain clarity on the product, which the organizers revealed would soon be available in stores nationwide and Ebere-Ann Hospital and Maternity, Mbubu Amiri, in Oru East LGA.
The event concluded with heartfelt appreciation from the beneficiaries, who praised Lady Ebere Udechukwu for her continuous humanitarian efforts aimed at addressing critical women’s health concerns in the community.
