The Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District, Engr. Patrick Ndubueze, popularly known as the “Legacy Senator of the South East,” on Monday, February 9, 2026, made a strong case for the funding and implementation of capital projects in the proposed 2026 national budget.
Senator Ndubueze raised the concern during the budget defence session of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment led by the Honourable Minister, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole at the National Assembly. As a member of the Senate Committee on Industry, Trade and Investment, he decried the absence of funding and implementation of capital projects in the 2025 fiscal year, describing the development as worrisome.
According to the lawmaker, the lack of capital project execution is inconsistent with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which is focused on driving national development and improving the living standards of Nigerians.
Describing himself as a committed ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Senator Ndubueze stated that policy implementation must align with the administration’s promises to the Nigerian people. He emphasized that government economic policies should produce tangible results that will positively impact citizens and justify renewed public confidence during future electoral processes.
He noted that as a loyal member of the ruling party, he believes the administration’s economic programmes must be effectively implemented to ensure meaningful development and enable elected officials to confidently return to their constituents with evidence of progress.
While expressing concern over the zero capital allocation in 2025, the Senator acknowledged and expressed satisfaction with the Minister’s presentation at the session.
He, however, urged ministries and relevant government agencies to adopt innovative and alternative strategies to ensure that critical capital projects receive adequate funding and are properly executed.
