The people of Mbubu Amiri in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State have reaffirmed their unwavering support for their traditional ruler, His Royal Highness (HRH) Eze Cyril Ugochukwu Uzoukwu, following reports alleging that he was arrested in the United States of America.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Chief Kyriel Alam Ezeugo disclosed that he had sworn and obtained an affidavit titled “Affidavit of Facts” at the High Court of Imo State, Owerri Judicial Division.
He urged members of the public to disregard reports linking HRH Eze Cyril Ugochukwu Uzoukwu to any alleged fraud case in the United States.
Chief Ezeugo explained that the affidavit was necessary to formally refute the claims and protect the integrity of the monarch and the community.
The reaffirmation came during a meeting held at the palace of HRH Eze Cyril Ugochukwu Uzoukwu, attended by men, women, and youths of Mbubu Amiri. At the gathering, community members unanimously upheld the contents of the sworn affidavit.
A traditional chief, Obum Francis, described the circulating reports of the monarch’s alleged arrest as false and misleading.
He clarified that the individual reportedly arrested in the United States is Prof. Ekelekamchukwu Ngwadom, an indigene of Mbubu Amiri, and not the traditional ruler.
Corroborating this position, the Youth Leader of Mbubu Amiri, Mr. Ajuruchibuzo Aneme, emphasized during an interview that Eze Cyril Ugochukwu Uzoukwu remains the only recognized traditional ruler of the community.
He added that the community has continued to experience relative peace and stability under his reign.
Similarly, the Woman Leader, Mrs. Ifeoma Ursula-Nwerem, alongside the Village Chief of Amakpu, Mbubu Amiri, Chief Charles Okanne, reiterated that Mbubu Amiri has only one traditional ruler — HRH Eze Cyril Ugochukwu Uzoukwu — and dismissed the allegations as unfounded.
The community therefore called on the general public to disregard the rumours and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing confusion or tarnishing reputations.
