In a decisive moment that further clarified the political direction of Okigwe North ahead of the 2027 general elections, High Chief John Enyiogasi, widely revered as OK2000 (Okpara Okigwe), publicly declared that the Okigwe North Federal House of Representatives seat in 2027 is the rightful turn of Onuimo Local Government Area. The declaration, delivered before a broad coalition of political leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots mobilizers, reaffirmed the long-standing principles of equity, zoning, and rotational representation that have sustained political balance and stability within Okigwe North.
High Chief Enyiogasi emphasized that his pronouncement was neither symbolic nor ceremonial, but a firm restatement of an existing political understanding among the constituent local governments of Okigwe North. According to him, rotational justice remains the only sustainable pathway to unity, fairness, and peaceful coexistence. He warned that any attempt to sidestep this arrangement would amount to political injustice and exclusion. Having patiently waited its turn within the zoning framework, Onuimo LGA, he stressed, must be allowed to take its rightful place in 2027.
The historic declaration was delivered in the distinguished presence of Rt. Hon. Goodluck Nana Opiah, Imo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who paid a working visit to OK2000 as part of strategic grassroots consultations and high-level stakeholder engagements across the state.
During the visit, Rt. Hon. Opiah explained that his engagement with OK2000 was aimed at strengthening grassroots support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and deepening alignment with traditional and political leaders who command respect and influence within their constituencies. He highlighted that the bold economic and governance policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,particularly in fiscal reforms, infrastructure renewal, security coordination, and economic stabilization are already yielding positive and measurable results across the country. According to him, while the reforms may be demanding, they are necessary steps toward long-term national recovery and prosperity.
Rt. Hon. Opiah therefore called on Ndi Onuimo and the entire Okigwe North constituency to remain steadfast in their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that continuity of leadership is essential to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda. He urged political leaders and grassroots mobilizers to work toward the return of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, noting that sustained support will guarantee deeper dividends of democracy, inclusive development, and national stability.
The declaration received overwhelming endorsement from an impressive lineup of influential leaders from Onuimo and beyond, reflecting a broad-based consensus. Those present included Hon. Chief Dr. Emeka Obi, Chairman of Onuimo LGA; Hon. Jude Madu, APC LGA Party Chairman; Hon. Chief Eugene Ibegbu, Vice Chairman of Onuimo LGA; and Hon. Dr. James Uba Esile, Member representing Onuimo at the Imo State House of Assembly. Their presence underscored strong institutional backing at both the local government and party levels for the zoning position articulated by OK2000.
Hon. Dr. James Uba Esile further stated that the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma has transformed Imo State through massive infrastructure development and economic advancement, describing him as a God-sent governor whose leadership has repositioned the state for growth and stability. He urged Onuimo leaders at home and in the diaspora to remain steadfast and united in their support for Governor Hope Uzodimma and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
In his remarks, OK2000 further commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his purposeful leadership, visionary governance, and commitment to equity across the state. He called on all Onuimo leaders, stakeholders, and political actors to consolidate their unity and give their full, unwavering support toward ensuring the victory of the APC in the forthcoming elections. According to him, unity behind the party and respect for established zoning principles will guarantee both justice and sustained political relevance for Onuimo.
Also in attendance were Chief Charles Ijezie (Okemiri); Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly; Chief Major Emenike, former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly; Rt. Hon. Maxwell Duru, General Manager of IMSAA; Hon. Chibuzor Umunnakwe; and Rt. Hon. Andy Maduako, Leader of the Onuimo Legislative Council, alongside his fellow councillors.
