It was a solemn yet heartfelt gathering marked by an outpouring of love, grief, and tributes as family, friends, and well-wishers converged in Achara, Obowo, Imo State, on April 10, 2026, to lay to rest Princess Mrs. Norah Ezenwanyi Nwokorie (née Njemanze), who passed away at the age of 43 after a prolonged illness linked to kidney failure.
The deceased, wife of Hon. Uzoma K. Nwokorie, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State on Ethics, reportedly died on December 24, 2025, in Abuja.
The burial ceremony attracted dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond. Among those present was the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, who represented the state government. He was accompanied by Hon. Kelechi Ofurum, member representing Owerri North State Constituency.
Other notable attendees included Hon. Ike Ibe, former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, the Chairman of Obowo Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Obioma Ebirim, HRH Eze Bobby Aguocha, Ohuruzo Umuohuru, (Itigidi-Agu Loro Ihe Loro Ehi).
Also present were Special Advisers to His Excellency, such as Hon. CDB Williams and Hon. Lady Patience Mbakwe.
Delivering the sermon, Bishop Ugo Wems of Resurrection Force Ministries, Enugu, urged Christians to live as instruments of God by impacting society positively through love and generosity. He emphasized that worldly possessions are meaningless if not used for the service of humanity and the glory of God, noting that the late Princess Norah exemplified a life of kindness and selflessness.
The cleric also prayed for the repose of her soul and encouraged the bereaved family to find strength and comfort in Christ.
In his condolence message, Speaker Rt Hon. Chike Olemgbe, urged the family to remain strong, stressing that while public sympathy is valuable, the greatest source of healing lies within the family’s mutual support.
Sharing his personal experience, Hon. Ike Ibe reflected on his own loss of wife and daughter who died in plane crash noting that only those who have experienced such grief can truly understand its depth.
The traditional ruler, HRH Eze Bobby Aguocha, offered prayers for strength and fortitude for the family, while Hon. Lady Patience Mbakwe expressed deep sympathy and joined others in praying for the deceased.
Speaking on behalf of the Njemanze family, Prince Eugene Njemanze thanked all attendees for their support and prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest.
In an emotional tribute, the senior sister of the deceased, Princess Angela Njemanze expressed profound grief, describing her late sister as her closest confidant and a pillar within the family. Also Leslie Njemanze SAN, expressed sadness over the demise of his cousin, Princess Norah and prayed that God should strenghten, Hon Uzoma and his family.
Mr Chukwudi Nwokorie, nephew of Hon. Uzoma Nwokorie who flew in from London to show solidarity and support, thanked all those who attended the burial
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Uzoma Nwokorie expressed appreciation to the Governor of Imo State, Dist. Senator Dr. Hope Uzodimma, who was represented at the event by the Speaker, as well as other dignitaries and sympathizers who came to support the family.
Tributes also poured in from prominent figures including former Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Her Excellency, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru Phd, the legislators such as: Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, Senator Osita Izunaso, and Senator Patrick Ndubueze. Others were; Chief of Staff (Government House), Barr. Sir Nnamdi Anyaehie, the Chairman of Nova Bank, Mr Phillip Oduoza, Chief Chris Okewuluonu, Chief Alex Mbakwe, other top government officials among others, all of whom described the late Princess Norah Nwokorie as a virtuous and compassionate woman whose loss is deeply felt.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for her peaceful repose and continued strength for the family she left behind.
